8 Weeks Pre-Licensing Training for Surveyors – Freshers
National Insurance Academy, Pune (NIA) proposes to be organizing the Training of Fresh Surveyors for eligible candidates, which will be held from 05.02.2024 to 30.03.2024. The training will comprise of 5 weeks online sessions wherein domain subjects along with introduction to Surveyor’s Regulations, Duties and Responsibilities, Report Writing and Soft Skills will be covered. The training will also include 3 weeks of Practical Onsite Training with a senior surveyor, who will be identified by the candidate himself / herself.
Important considerations for the training:
1. The commercials for the Pre-Licensing online training programme are Rs. 50,000/- plus GST @ 18% per participant.
2. The candidates will have to identify a senior surveyor on their own, with whom they would undertake the 3-week practical onsite training. Moreover, the location of the candidate and the location of the surveyor should be in the same city or not farther than 200 km.
3. The cost, if any, for the 3-week practical onsite training by the senior surveyor has to be borne separately by the candidates.
4. The candidates must enrol by registering on the website of National Insurance Academy, Pune at the link given therein.
5. The online sessions will be held from Monday to Saturday. Timetable and other details will be shared with the participants once the Registration is confirmed.
6. On completion of online training and practical onsite training with a Senior Surveyor a Final Online Test will be conducted by National Insurance Academy.
7. Thereafter, Training Evaluation Cum Completion Certificate will be issued to the candidates who clear the Final Practical Test.
Documents required to be submitted before commencement of Online Training: The candidates are required to send Soft Copy as well as Hard copy of the following documents: • IRDAI Enrolment Number • III Qualifying Exam Passing Certificate • Passport Size Photo (with candidate’s name written at its back)
Important considerations for the Final Online Test:
1. On completion of online training and practical onsite training, an online Final Practical Test will be conducted by the Academy, the date of which will be announced in due course.
2. Candidates undergoing the online training with National Insurance Academy need not pay any additional fees for the Final Practical Test.
3. Candidates applying for Fresh Surveyor License and undergoing practical onsite training for 6 months with a senior surveyor can also take the online test at a nominal fee of Rs 2500/- plus GST @ 18% (per subject).
4. Existing surveyors, who have undergone training with a Senior Surveyor & are willing to obtain license in additional subjects, can also take the online test at a nominal fee of Rs 1500/- plus GST @ 18% (per subject).

As per IRDAI’s circular No IRDA/SURGDL/MISC/068/03/2121 dated 31.3.2021 regarding guidelines for Practical training for Surveyors and loss assessors, we are giving the details on training programme to be organised by NIA. A. Surveyors Pre-Licensing training for fresh license - 2 months
a. Part of the training will be conducted on digital platform (MS Teams) and part of the training will be on site(practical training imparted by surveyors)
b. The commercials for the Pre-Licensing training programme would be Rs 50,000/- plus GST @ 18% per participant for the online training sessions organized on digital platform – 30 days (training plus test) The cost for onsite training (3 Weeks/18days) to be imparted by surveyors/IISLA – to be separately incurred by the participants.
c. Programme would be conducted by NIA & III once in 3 months and if sufficient trainees are not available, it will be done alternatively by NIA and III.
d. The minimum number of participants per batch would be 20.
e. The location of onsite training (3 weeks- 18 days) will be decided based on the location of the participants. The list of cities identified for conducting practical exam will be floated 15 days before the training programme start date. Participants can choose the closest location and identify the name surveyor from the city (from the list provided by us) to get themselves trained on practical aspects.
f. After the completion of onsite training a confirmation will be received from the surveyor who has trained the participant. The certificate will be based on the criterion of. Subject Knowledge, interest in learning, Technical expertise.
g. There will be an online test conducted at the end of the training Module, which is mandatory for all the participants to clear. The Test will be for 100 marks and will carry MCQ questions.
h. A certificate would be issued by the training authorities for attending the online as well as the onsite training sessions by the participants. i. Training Evaluation cum completion certificate will be issued by the institution carrying out the training, which has to be submitted to IRDAI for issue or renewal of license.
B. Surveyors training for additional subjects – 2 weeks
a. Part of the training will be conducted on digital platform (MS Teams) and part of the training will be on site .
b. The commercials for the Pre-Licensing training programme would be Rs 10000/- plus GST @ 18% per participant for the online training sessions organized on digital platform – 7 days (training plus test) The cost for onsite training (1 Weeks/7 days) to be imparted by surveyors/IISLA – to be separately incurred by the participants.
c. Programme would be conducted by NIA & III once in 6 months and if sufficient trainees are not available, it will be done alternatively by NIA and III.
d. The minimum number of participants per batch would be 10.
e. The location of onsite training (1 weeks- 7 days) will be decided based on the location of the participants. The list of cities identified for conducting practical exam will be floated 15 days before the training programme start date. Participants can choose the closest location and identify the name surveyor from the city (from the list provided by us) to get themselves trained on practical aspects.
f. After the completion of onsite training a confirmation will be received from the surveyor who has trained the participant. The certificate will be based on the criterion of. Subject Knowledge, interest in learning, Technical expertise.

How to enroll for the exam
Enrolment for the exam is a two-step process.

- Following documents are required to be submitted in hard copy:
- IRDAI Enrolment Number
- IIISLA Registration Number, if any
- III Qualifying Exam Passing Certificate
- 2 Passport size Photos (with candidate’s name written at its back)
- Training Completion Certificate issued by the surveyor
- Quarterly Report after completion of the onsite training (only in case of Fresh Surveyors)

Eligibility criteria
- Enrolment with IRDAI for the department should not be older than 3 years.
- Candidate should have passed mandatory S-01 (Principles and Practice of General Insurance and Insurance Survey and Loss Assessment) and at least one departmental subject exam conducted by III before commencement of the practical training with a senior surveyor/institutional training with NIA or III.
- Date of commencement of training (practical training with senior surveyor/institutional training with NIA or III) should not be before the date of publication of exam results by III / passing of III Result.
- During practical training with surveyor, trainee should have maintained proper records of training.
- Individuals who have completed six months training with the surveyor are required to submit their training completion certificate along with quarterly reports generated through the BAP Portal.
- Individuals who have undergone training for less than a quarter, manual training completion certificate is acceptable. This certificate must be printed on the Surveyor's Official Letterhead (TCC format given by IRDAI), duly signed and stamped. If you undertake training with Corporate Surveyor, he must have his own letterhead and stamp. Please note, company's letterhead and stamp will not be accepted.
For administrative purpose and hassle-free process, please note the points given below:
- Candidates must ensure that all required details are entered accurately in the registration form. We will not accept multiple registrations from the same candidate.
- Please confirm that all necessary documents are attached. If we find any document missing or if they are not in the order, candidate will not be eligible to appear for the exam.
- Hard copies of documents along with two photographs should be sent through courier. If we do not receive the photographs your certificate will not be prepared.
*Certificate is issued to those candidates who have undergone training and successfully passed the examination. Certificates will be sent via courier on the registered address.
