Background:
Insurance
is primarily data-driven forward looking business. Actuarial Analysts play a
very important role in predictive analytics, uncertainty management and risk
modeling in such business. The availability of free and open-source software
tools like R & related packages enable them to get the necessary business
insight for more effective risk analytics and related actuarial activities.
Also, Actuarial institutes like Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI), Institute
and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) have already
recognized the importance of software tools ‘R’ and ‘Python’ in their
professional activities.
Therefore,
actuarial aspirants, actuarial managers, data analysts, data scientists, etc.
need to develop necessary analytics skills in R. This hands-on training
