FINANCE & INVESTMENT AWARENESS PROGRAMME (LIC)
Background:
Financial
literacy - a combination of awareness, knowledge, skill, attitude, and behavior
- necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve individual
‘financial well-being' is increasingly being recognized as an essential life
skill.
As
globalization and digital technologies make financial products easily
accessible, financial literacy has become one of the major challenges for
countries around the world. Globally, the youth are becoming financial consumers
earlier in their lives than ever before and making financial decisions (credit
cards, education loans) that can have lasting consequences if not well managed.
To connect with millennials and other groups of customers it has become
mandatory for executives of financial institutions to have a clear understanding
and knowledge of the financial world and its various dimensions.
The
investing public has different investment opportunities today. However, all
investments carry certain risks. The investors are required to understand and,
simultaneously, compare the risks and the expected yields after adjustment of
tax on various instruments while taking investment decisions. They may not be
familiar with the market mechanism and the practices as well as their rights and
obligations. To make the executives aware of the various investment
opportunities available, the risk and return attached to them and the dynamics
of various financial markets, the training of executives is essential from
individual and organizational perspectives.
